5 reasons why having your own website is essential to growing your business
If you have a business or brand you need your own website! Let’s talk about it. I have five reason why you should have your own website.
Creating your own website allows you to avoid unnecessary flagging and being shadowbanned. I know you hear or probably experienced people having these problems with social media platforms having preferential bias towards certain creators over others. We have seen this time and time again. There are several rage videos about it. My whole thing is yes it is very annoying and frustrating but instead of getting upset use the audience that you already build from these social media platforms & create your own space with a website.
Creating your own website allows you to cut out the middleman on these social media platforms but selling your products or services on your own platform. A lot of these e-commerce additions added to your favorite social media platform is inserting themselves into your finances. They charge an additional fee because you are using their platform. They even delay your payment by weeks or even months in some cases.
Creating your own website allows you to have full access to the audience that took you years to build. There is a lot of data that is limited to you for your audience. The audience that constantly come to their platform for you content. The audience that engages with you. You don’t control these platforms. They can literally ban you at any given moment at. You can lose the 20k, 100k, 1 million followers that you gained in the drop of a dime.
Everything you can do on social media you can do on your own website. Creating a blog you can have a dialogue with you supporters. You can keep your sanity in check. Social media has become increasing toxic over the years. Everyone is so consumed with numbers and flexing for the internet. Creating your website will allow you to create a different experience for your audience. You can create fun content in a non-toxic way. You have your audience directly engage with you without the added pressure of trying to stay relevant.
Last but not least you can get monetized without social media:
You can add ads to your website. They can be a bit annoying but it is a way to monetize your content.
You can have digital products that help your audience.
You can have a service that you charge for.
You can paywall certain content.
I will always encourage someone to try. Do not allow yourself to be a slave to views and the algorithm. If you can do all that work to become monetized on YouTube (which not easy) or get 100k followers on Instagram you can definitely drive traffic to your own website.
